Safety Warning for UK roads

New statistics from the Department for Transport, reveal that road deaths have reached a four-year high – which should serve as a wakeup call for all drivers, let alone fleet managers.

Nearly 1,800 people were killed in collisions last year, up 4% from 2015. Despite the strict safety regulations across Europe, 40% of road deaths are work related.

Managing driver safety is one of the most stressful elements of the job for fleet managers. At the same time, they’re under pressure to manage compliance, while reducing costs and scheduling more jobs.

Tools that provide real-time visibility of driving habits and vehicle locations across the fleet have become crucial for modern fleet businesses to establish a culture of safety. They enable managers to monitor driver behaviour, ensure safety and efficiency, and deliver real-time coaching in the driver’s cab.

It can also facilitate gamification to encourage driver engagement and you can also choose to add in a reward system to ensure drivers stay on the right side of safety.
